CEO, Cinewax
Jean FALL is the founder and president of the association Cinewax. Young French-Senegalese entrepreneur, he created the association in 2015, to promote African cultures through cinema.
He discovered his second country, Senegal, only at the age of 19. After several trips, he decided to launch a project to promote his African culture. Passionate about cinema, he had the idea of using film as a medium to create a cultural bridge between countries, and to sensitize the public to the discovery of Africa through the power of images.
After obtaining a law degree at the University of Paris 1 Pantheon Sorbonne, he fully embarked on the adventure to develop the project. Cinewax was born in 2015 to offer an alternative to the lack of positive images of Africa and its diasporas in the cinema and the media, and to fight against the general lack of knowledge of the continent.
In 2018, he launched the concept of OAFF (Online African Film Festival), which became the OAFF platform in late 2020, with the aim of spreading stories from African and its diaspora around the world.
In 6 years of activity, Cinewax organized more than 150 events, and shown more than 250 films. Its actions are mentioned in several media, including RFI, France 24, Konbini and BBC. Cinewax collaborates with cinema personalities such as Wanuri Kahiu, Mati Diop, Maïmouna Doucouré, Aïssa Maïga, and many others.
The latest project of the association, in 2021, the Cinewax Education program, received the label Saison Africa 2020 and is presented on the website of the French Ministry of Education (Eduscol).
